Rotarians: Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things

Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships.

Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service and today, Rotary has become a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.  There are over 46,000 Rotary clubs in the world in over 200 countries.

The Rotary Club of Parksville was formed in 1984 and has carried out many projects in support of the local community and internationally, focusing on food security, education and literacy, homelessness, mental health, the environment, disaster aid, and support for the people of Ukraine affected by the ongoing conflict.

We live, work and play on the unceded lands of the Coast Salish peoples. We offer our respect and gratitude to the traditional
caretakers of this land, the people of the Snaw-naw-as and Qualicum First Nations, for sharing their territory with us.

WE CONNECT PEOPLE

Rotary unites more than a million people

Through Rotary clubs, people from all continents and cultures come together to exchange ideas, and form friendships and professional connections while making a difference in their backyards and around the world.

WE TRANSFORM COMMUNITIES

We take action locally and globally

Each day, our members pour their passion, integrity, and intelligence into completing projects that have a lasting impact. We persevere until we deliver real, lasting solutions.

WE SOLVE PROBLEMS

No challenge is too big for us

For more than 110 years, we’ve bridged cultures and connected continents to champion peace, fight illiteracy and poverty, promote clean water and sanitation, and fight disease.

Together, we see a world

where people unite and take action

to create lasting

change across the globe,

in our communities, and in ourselves.
